Biography

Mr. Wertzberger was raised in Marshalltown, Iowa and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 2002. He joined the United States Army on Active Duty in 2002. After training, Mr. Wertzberger was assigned and served as a member of 3d US Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, ceremonial unit and escort to the President. In the Old Guard, Mr. Wertzberger earned the rank of Sergeant, and was Honorably Discharged in 2006. Upon completion of his Active Duty enlistment, Mr. Wertzberger enrolled in classes at Iowa State University. In 2009, Mr. Wertzberger was recalled to Active Duty from the Inactive Ready Reserve, and was assigned to the 1-130th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion for a deployment to Al-Basra, Iraq. While in Iraq, Mr. Wertzberger earned the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was again Honorably Discharged in May 2010. Upon completion of military service, Mr. Wertzberger resumed classes at Iowa State, and eventually pursued a law degree at the University of Iowa College of Law. Chris and his wife Amy live in Marshalltown.
